I really like the black and white theme that I have used because it makes the colours stand out, also it tones the page down and makes it look professional. I chose to do my contents title in this abstract way because I thought it looked funky and I thought it gave the page more of a visual aspect rather than the dull black and white writing and pictures. I used a full length image because I thought it looked good and I got inspired from the Cheryl Cole V contents page which also involved the black and white theme which I thought looks really good. The contents page title was inspired by VIBE magazine as I loved the idea of it. I think maybe more could be added to the page, but also I like the simplicity of it because it looks proffessional.

Testing out the mock shots for Cover
I did a mock up of the cover with my test shots. I didn't know whether to use a girl or boy for the cover, but as most of my pictures are of boys, I decided to use a boy. I chose for him to wear the blue jacket as it really stands out and makes the picture look more professional. I think that the pose is quite good but it would work better if you could see more of his face. For the real photos I will make sure that I put makeup on my model so that his skin is clearer. I firstly cut out the picture on photoshop to get rid of the background and after I put it onto the white background which looked good. I think that maybe the picture is a little big, and also the head is cut of, so I will need to make sure that for the real pictures the whole head is there. I then put the heading on and I chose the colour blue for the cover lines because it matched the jacket, I did this buy hovering the mouse over it when I picked the colour as it made the writing the same colour of the jacket. I then added a barcode and the date of the issue, but for the real cover I will need other things, like the price etc. The date was on the photo which was really annoying as it made it really unprofessional, but I will be using a professional camera for my real cover so the date won't be on it.

Testing Poses
From doing these test shots I have picked out the best ones that look the best visually, I have found out that some poses look better than others, but I have decided that I really want a female model on my cover, so I will have to find someone that will fit my genre of music and that will look good on the cover of my magazine and do some more test shots. I think that some of the pictures look good, for example, I really like the blue jacket.

Mock Double page spread Idea
I chose the image of Keri Hilson because I thought it would look good on one side of the article as I noticed that most article were overpowered by one picture on one side which I thought worked really well and I decided I wanted to do on mine. I cut out Keri Hilson from a red background which she was on and dragged it onto my white background. I then decided on a writing style and wrote a title and some lyrics from her songs 'I like' and 'Turn my swag on' I thought this looked good and made me think of adding lyrics from my artists songs onto my magazine. I then added an R from my magazine title which I thought would work well for a logo, but I will make a better logo for my real magazine. I then copied some writing about Keri Hilson from wikipedia and put it into collums to make it look like a double page spread. Lastly I added on the page number.
Mock Contents idea
I chose to have my contents page in black and white, because I liked the black and white contents pages that I have seen that were in black and white because I think it makes the cover stand out more and it makes it look more proffesional. I chose the picture of Cheryl Cole because I like the way she was standing and I thought it would look really good on one side and have all the features on the other. I split up the contents into features and fashion because a lot of magazine are split up into it and I think it works really well. I used the R from Replay onto my contents page as a logo for the time being.

La Chappelle
La Chappelle is really inspirational because his photography for magazine covers are very individual and unique and stand out from other magazines. I like the unusual props that are used in the photographs as it makes the photographs very individual and eyecatching which makes me think about using props in my magazine. I also like the use of pastel colours which is used throughout the picture and the use of the hoop is a dark harsh colour compared to the background which makes it stand out more. The hoop makes the picture more unique and it makes you look at it more, you can see that the lighting is straight on because the shaddow is behind the hoop and the model. I really like how it looks as if she is jumping through the hoop and this makes it look like there is movement going on. It has inspired me to try out props in my photos as it makes the pictures more eye catching and individual.

Mock Cover Idea
I got a picture of Rihanna that I really liked the pose of because it looks extemely proffesional, and I made it big so it took up most of the cover because I thought that the magazine with a bigger picture and less writing looks more proffesional and simple. I used the title that I liked best from my font ideas and I put it behind the image because it looked better than in front of the image as when it was in front the image didn't stand out how I wanted it to do. I did the cutting out of Rihanna on photoshop and dragged it to the white background, after already putting the masthead on. I then chose some fonts that I liked, which were all different, but all worked well together and wrote cover lines. There was one issue with this because photoshop wouldn't let me change the colour of the fonts so therefore I couldn't get a proper idea of what it would look like with my colours, although it looks really good in black and white. I then added a barcode and wrote the date really small next to it, as I didn't want it overpowering my cover. Overall this has given me inspiration to have a big picture and less writing and also to use more handwritten fonts because they make the magazine looks more visual. It has also helped me learn how to use photoshop.

BBC
BBC Magazines is the magazine publishing division
of BBC Worldwide, from inspiring you to create a beautiful home and garden to entertaining and educating your children BBC Magazines provide a range of quality publications. BBC own various magazines including, Top Gear, Cbeebies, Wildlife, Doctor Who, Focus, Radio Times, Good Food, Music, Match of the day, Homes and much more.
Conclusion:
From looking at different magazine institutes I have found out that if i wanted my magazine to be brought by an institute, I would want it to be brought by IPC because BBC is more related at TV programmes and more educational things and EMAP is related to more upper class people and more at men and what is happening in the world, it is more about news and what will effect them whereas IPC is more about fashion and music which is what my magazine is about, so it will fit in this institute perfectly.

Colour ideas
Colour Ideas I have chosen the black, white and red colour scheme because I think it works best for both sex's and I think it works really professional on the magazines and I think the red colour brings out the dull black and white colours which may be bland and the red will complement the other bland colours. I think that I could use the red to make focus points of the magazine.

Inspiration
I would love to have an image like this for my double page spread with the colour of the background already in the background with no cutting out needed as it looks really proffesional, whereas this may be hard to do. I think it is a good picture because you could use black and white writing and the red would stand out as it is bold.
I love the falling motion that has been used in this photo as it shows movement of the model and looks really different and stands out which I want my magazine to do.
The effect of the writing on this magazine looks really abstract and looks really different, I love the look of different fonts being cut up from differnt magazines as it looks really effective and in your face which makes the magazine more rememerable. I would love to use this type of writing somewhere in my magazine as this has inspired me.
This picture and the use of everything in it being black works really well because it doesn't use black and white photography, instead everything in it is black and white which makes it stand out more as the skin colour is normal and it looks more simpler and proffesional than a black and white image.
This image is really stunning because of the use of makeup and stance. I think that the lighting is extremely good in this because it makes her look flawless and stand out from the plain background. I love the bold jewellery used because it makes the image stand out more and make it more in your face, whereas a small piece of jewellery would be simpler and I think wouldn't work as well for my genre of music.
This background on the image looks really effective and in your face, it looks as if she's stepping out of the pictureframe and the colours really brighten up the picture which looks really effective with the red, pink and yellow and they are quite clashing colours but it works really well.
This image is really unique and the clothing that she is wearing is reallyabstract and different which stands out and makes it abstract, I really like how everything is really white, including her skin colour and everything on her stands out, like her hair, the dress and the shoes.

Colour Pallets
I have been looking a Colour pallets to help me decide on the colours that i want to use for my colour schemes on my magazine. I like the use of the neutral colours along with darker or lighter colours, for example baby pink and grey look good together but it targets a female gender rather than both. I like the use of bright colours that stand out against the neutral colours and neutral background which I think works effectively as there is just one bright colour to focus on. I have noticed the colours white and black are commonly used throughout the front cover and I think it looks very professional with a slight amount of colour added to it. I will see what colours work best on my magazine by testing and seeing what looks most visual on my magazine to produce the best magazine visually.
Fonts
Media Names
I have been looking a a variety of fonts on www.dafont.com and have tested the different fonts with the names that I prefer. For Replay I thought it would be good to add an arrow in the word on the A and I think this works really well, also I added an arrow on the Y on Replay which I think looks effective but it is a little messy as I did it on paint. For the Grind word that is cubed I added colour to it to make it stand out. I will need to test out more colours with different backgrounds to narrow down my choices more. I like the fonts that will stand out and that will be easy to remember. I want to achieve a eye-catching font for my masthead that will catch attention.
